Computer Programmers usually spend 8 to 14 hours a day in front of the computer. Basically, they write software programs that translates the design of engineers and developers into a language that the computer can follow. With this job, dry and red eyes is a common problem. So I decided to make a 2017 version of the list of best computer glasses that can help you relieve this eye strain.

This list is based on the effectiveness of the glasses since that is our main concern in here right? I also considered the features that they offer for their frames, lenses, magnification and even the accessories included.

Some glasses are somehow costly and some are affordable, but all of them serves their purpose which is to protect our eyes. I hope that you can gain more information with the help of this list.

1. Spektrum Premium Computer Glasses

The lens for the glasses is made from high-quality optic glass. They use modern technologies that help them in filtering the blue spectrum from the light and enhance the image quality for the eyes.

The lenses also have a special Amber tinting on them. This tinting helps the user in increasing the number of hours in front of the monitors.

While wearing these lenses, you can work all day long without having any headaches and dry red eyes at the end of your day.

The lenses also prevent dry currents from reaching the eyes. These dry currents are many times responsible for dry and red eyes that give a lot of pain afterwards.

Aside from the good effects of this glasses, you should also follow some precautionary actions that can help you better. This includes taking a break every hour in order to relax your eye muscles.

Spektrum do not provide any other special accessories with the glasses. On opening the package, you would find the glasses, wrapped in a lustrous sheet of fabric, a small cleaning cloth with a small manual and a card.

The manual is provided to enlighten yourself about the parts and some cautions that should be taken care of while handling the glasses for the first time.

2. J+S Vision Blue Light Shield Computer Glasses

The temples of these glasses are spring loaded and show an excellent compatibility with massive headgears.

The nose pads attached to the ends of the bridges also help in distributing the frame pressure uniformly that helps in reducing the frame marks after an extended usage. The frame material is a high-quality hybrid plastic that provides tensile strength as well as great looks to the lenses.

By the way, the lenses can block about 90% of the high-energy blue light and about 70% of the low-energy blue light. The lenses also allow an adequate amount of blue light to pass through for maintaining minimum distortion in the images and a clear vision.

Inside your package, you will find several things. There is a hard J+S shell, and cleaning fabric specially designed for cleaning the lenses and the glasses themselves.

Once you put them on, you would not notice them hanging on your nose whether you wear them for one hour of ten hours. The use of these glasses can certainly double your productive hours with no fatigue feeling at the end.

The material used for the frames not only provides sturdiness but also helps in maintaining the luster on the frame. You can also choose your perfect fit from a collection of fourteen sizes.

The nose pads are made up of flexible rubber that helps them reduce the frame pressure and have a perfect grip for the glasses to sit intact during the increased hours.

As for the lenses, it works by filtering the incoming light beam and reflecting back all the dangerous wavelengths from the entire spectrum.

It has a soft yellow tinting which helps in increasing the working hours while decreasing the overall eye stress and other fatigue problems while working in front of electronic devices.

In the package, you will find a lustrous sleeve of fabric with glasses, a cleaning cloth and a hard zipper case for protecting the glasses.

The glasses also help in avoiding the headaches and dry eyes that everyone faces after long working hours. Lenses prevent the fluorescent dry currents in the air from reaching the eyes and hence help in avoiding all such problems.

The lenses used in Gamma Ray 003 is amber tinted. It is used to minimize the digital eye strain caused by the blue light from the digital screens you are using.

The Glasses helps in saving the eyes from harmful effects of the UV and high-energy rays that can cause damage to the eyes.

The reduced frame height really helps in increasing the grip stats and vision. The slim ends of the frame also provides full support for your favorite headphones. The bridge and Multi-barrel hinges of the frame keeps the glasses intact on the face, providing it rational stability for long time usage at once.

The lens is designed with the amber tint and other coatings that prevent high-energy and Ultra Violet glares from reaching the eyes.

Honestly, the yellow shade seemed unusual at first, but you will get used to it after some time.

By the way, I suggest that you clean the lenses with the piece of cloth that comes along with the pack or use similar material for cleaning purposes.

Bottom Line

Computer glasses has been a proven solution to several symptoms caused by too much staring in front of the computer. Most computer programmers experience dry eyes, headache and even neck pain while working in their projects.

Thus I highly recommend that you make precautionary measures before these minor issues become a major problem. I myself have undergone these eye problems because I also work 8 hours a day as a cad drafter. And these symptoms somehow decreased my job productivity.

Personally, I prefer the J+S vision glasses, it is not that expensive plus the tinting is not that dark.

If you already own your own prescription glasses then you can also look into clip-on computer glasses.

Wearing these kind of eyewear helped me in minimizing the effects but I still suggest that you take frequent brakes while working in front of digital screen. Health is far way more important than your pay check right?

By the way, if you have personal experiences about using these computer glasses, feel free to comment below and share it to everyone.

Hi Everyone! I created this website to share my thoughts about the solutions to various eye problems that are caused by too much staring at digital screens. I also tackle about preventive measures to minimize the harmful effects of UV rays.

  1. I’m not a programmer but I am spending 8 or more hours in front of the computer as I build out my website.
I spoke to my doctor about having difficulty getting to sleep in the evening and the topic of my time in front of the computer came up. I was told that the blue rays from the screen may well be the culprit.
Are there any particular product recommendations you would make for those of us that wear glasses?
I got a pair of blue light filtering clip-ons and, presto, no more sleep problem. The remaining challenge is their fit to my lenses.

    1. Like what you have said, clip on eyewear is an option. There are also other computer glasses that offer magnification on its lenses.
