FRAME

This model of Duduma eyewear is manufactured for active wear; that is, cycling, biking, running, and such. It is designed to have arched arms that seem to envelope the user’s head.

The arms are sculpted with uneven surface on the outer edge thus giving angst and edge to the sports-designed eyewear. In addition, there is a small hole near the temples acting as an accent and directing other users to notice the brand “Duduma”.

In addition, it also has a function to facilitate slight air flow.

The arms have a length of 140 mm (5.51 in). At front view, the frame also spans 140 mm (5.51 in). Meanwhile, the nose bridge is gapped by 30 mm (1.18 in). The product has dimensions as described to give the user the best experience for an active eyewear.

The frame is made up of polymer called TR90 upgraded with stronger Germany polycarbonate material to address previous customer feedback of having fragile frames and coating being easily peeled off.

Basically, TR90 is also called plastic titanium or memory plastic. It is one of the innovative materials used in making top quality frames nowadays.

It is usually a clear plastic that is specially picked for a slightly matte finish capable of producing smooth round edges. Anyhow, it can be tinted to produce more alive and vivid colors than ordinary plastics do.

This brings the Duduma eyewear frames in black, 541 black matte, 646 black matte, black matte, white, blue, grey matte, and silver colors.

LENSES

The lenses of this Duduma glasses follow the design of its frame.

It is made of triacetate material employed with Japanese technology. Basically, it is packed with seven (7) layers namely:

  • anti-scratch layer
  • strengthening protection layer
  • UV400 protective membrane layers
  • UV membrane filter
  • UV400 protective membrane bilayer
  • strengthening protection layer
  • compressive strengthening protective film.

Moreover, the lenses are high-definition polarized.

As evident on the layers present on the lenses, the lenses block off ultraviolet (UV) light. This light is rampant in places and time where the sun is strikingly shining.

This includes high altitudes and places without shades especially between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. For a person with an active lifestyle, these places and times are important for their workout, whether they are out there doing exercises or field work.

These UV rays can penetrate through the surface because of its relatively long wavelength and attack the macula of the eyes. This can cause macular degeneration and certain types of cataracts.

Other high energies can also cause more fatal damages such as some form of cataracts, photokeratitis (corneal sunburn or snow blindness), pingueculae, pterygia, and much more. If the eyes are not protected, these problems could eventually lead to blindness.

Fortunately, Duduma eyewear prevents 99% of UV rays from reaching the eyes.

Aside from the frames, the users can also enjoy variety with the lenses. The available colors for lenses are black, blue, yellow, brown, and green.

MAGNIFICATION

Duduma eyewear does not have an option to become Rx-ready as of now. It is mainly focused on active eyewear so correcting one’s vision is the least of the manufacturer’s worries.

Yet, people with concurrent vision problems like myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), astigmatism, etc. may encounter problems when using the eyewear. They should find other ways to address their problems while having their eyes protected from harmful rays.

ACCESSORIES

Duduma eyewear comes with a hard case, a soft pouch, and a microfiber cloth.

The hard case protects the glasses from foreign materials including moisture, dust, dirt, oil, grease, and the like, as well as mechanical breakage due to impact and shock.

The soft pouch also does the function of the hard pouch but a lesser extent. It also makes the glasses easy-to-carry even in pockets. The microfiber cloth cleans the surface without causing abrasion.

Performance

Since the frame is made of TR90 polymer, corrosion that is caused by moisture and acidic perspirations is mostly prevented.

Some of the advantages brought by the improved frame material include having a density of 1.14 to 1.15 which makes it lightweight. In addition, TR90 has an elasticity index of >125 kg/m2 making the frame absorb a certain magnitude of impact.

Its resistance to deformation is also high; thus, frames made of TR90 is durable. Lastly, the material passes the European standards for food grade material. Hence, it is non-toxic and is hypoallergenic.

No chemicals are known to be released by the material over a period of time. Contact to skin is not known to produce any irritation. In addition, the frames are modeled with ergonomic design that does not cause extra pressure and stress on the skeletal and muscular regions of the user’s face.

Meanwhile, the lenses being HD-polarized allows the user to get less distracted because of glares that is a common problem for people with active lifestyle.

The intensity of the light is reduced to a tolerable extent with the images viewed through the lenses appearing crisper and sharper in details. Aside from which, 99% of the harmful UV rays are filtered by the lenses.

Pricing

Based on my last research, this set of Duduma glasses is priced reasonably. Aside from its durable frames and lenses, its extra accessories is also a plus point. It is well known that active eyewear comes at expensive price, but this falls to the affordable ones.

Helpful Tips

Like I always say on my reviews, It is always important to take care of your glasses in order to keep its effectiveness. So here are some helpful tips that you can follow.

  • Keep the glasses inside the hard case. This will ensure that the glasses will be safe from sudden falls.

  1. Thanks for the review. I have light sensitive eyes so when ever I am in bright surrounding and do not have my eyes protected they begin to water and become irratated so I am always looking for new sunglasses to try. One of my personal favorites right now are the HD sunglasses as I was also able to wear them at night to help with the bright street lights.
    Cheers,
    Tony

    1. It is good to know that you use sun glasses to protect your eyes. I am a strong believer that prevention is always  better than cure.
