Specifications

FRAME

The frame of this Eyekepper model goes by the common style of eyeglasses where the rims are rectangular in shape having curved edges. It widens up to 138 mm (5.43 in) from temple to temple with a nose bridge spaced at 13 mm (0.51 in).

The rims extend to provide nose pads lining the nose bridge. Each is connected to an arm via spring hinges. The springs are protected by a part of the arm. The arms have a length of 135 mm (5.31 in).

Each arm is flat and white as it narrows before it bends near the end. Finally, the arms widen toward the tips.

The frame is made of plastic which is made to be available in plain black, black-brown, black-red, black-transparent, tortoise, and transparent. There are two types of black frame. One type is decorated by an elliptical metal strip on its temples, same with transparent and tortoise frames.

These types have the brand printed on the exterior of the arm close to the joints.

LENSES

This model of Eyekepper glasses have aspheric lenses. The lenses have a width of 52 mm (2.05 in) and a height of 34 mm (1.34 in).

The lenses are colored with yellow, amber, or orange tint to block 30.38% of blue light. The lenses also offer 100% blocking of ultraviolet (UV) and other kinds of radiation. Glare is reduced by the lenses. Additional features of the lenses include anti-scratch, anti-static, and anti-fog.

MAGNIFICATION

There is a relatively wider range of magnification offered by Eyekepper compared with other brands; yet, the magnification is still in the low range.

The available magnification for this model of Eyekepper glasses are +0.00, +0.50, +0.75, +1.00, +1.25, +1.50, +1.75, +2.00, +2.25, +2.50, +2.75, +3.00, +3.25, +3.50, +3.75, and +4.00.

Secondly, this model of Eyekepper doesn’t include negative grades. Hence, people with current visual problems like myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), or astigmatism may not be comfortable in using these glasses.

Eyekepper’ lenses are Rx-able ready, though. Nevertheless, a slight magnification for people who have 20/20 vison is useful when staring at objects for long periods of time. This will help the ciliary muscle of those people to relax.

ACCESSORIES

The hard zip case of this Eyekepper model is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) – a kind of polymer which has proven to be inherently flexible, tough, and has a high chemical resistance and high friction coefficient.

Its being quite inert allows the case to be efficient in protecting the glasses from foreign agents. It also has a buoyancy that prevents the case and the glasses inside to sink. This is perfect for water-related activities.

The cleaning cloth, on the other hand, has a length of 145 mm (5.71 in) and a width of 90 mm (3.54 in). This size is enough to clean the whole assembly.

Performance

The designs, colors, and style of this Eyekepper model is classic and universal. Hence, this glasses could be worn by anyone, anywhere, and with any outfit for any occasion. This style is not restricted to a particular age, race, skin color, personality, or gender group.

This Eyekepper eyewear is made of plastic. Generally, plastics are lightweight, flexible, elastic, hypoallergenic, corrosion-resistant, and non-toxic. The dyes used for tinting the plastic may be toxic, though.

However, there is no need to worry for Eyekepper since their products are marked by the Conformité Européene (CE). Meaning, this model of Eyekepper has passed the European standards for environment, safety, and health.

In addition, the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has granted permission for this product to be distributed.

Meanwhile, the lenses of this Eyekepper model has many features. The first is its anti-scratch property. This is the outermost layer of the lenses to protect the underlying layers beneath it.

The anti-static layer eliminates the buildup of static electricity. This layer prevents dust and other particles from sticking on the lenses’ surface.

The lenses also have an anti-fog layer. This is created through a hydrophobic layer that increases the contact angle of moisture in contact with the lenses. The selling point of this model of Eyekepper glasses is its protection of the eyes from radiation. 30.38% of blue light is blocked. This is a fairly low percentage.

For lenses which tint is noticeable, this percentage is no good. Majority of blue light could still enter the eyes to cause damage like strain, irritation, redness, fatigue, itchiness, dryness, dizziness, headaches, and lack of sleep. Color distortion is still there.

Though some of the images may appear to be sharper than in original view, the color could be altered so greatly that this eyewear would not be applicable to people whose job is video and photo editing.

Though the anti-blue light property of this brand is lame, Eyekepper kept its UV blocking property superb. 100% blocking mean that this glasses could be worn outdoors especially on places near the equator or of high altitudes, especially at 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

An additional anti-glare property allows this glasses to be beneficial when the user is viewing bright settings.

Pricing

What I like the most about this glasses is that it is budget-friendly. The price range of their glasses is $12 – $15. So it depends on the color of the lenses and the style of the frames.

All of the products come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and lifetime breakage warranty.

Helpful Tips

Like I always say on my reviews, it is important to take care of your glasses because it is an investment. So here are some helpful tips that you can follow.

  • The tinting on the lenses may be unusual at first so just give it some time and you will get used to it.
  • Always keep the lenses inside the protective case. This will ensure that dust and any dirt will not easily get into it.
  • Don’t use any other cloth in cleaning the lenses. Only use the provided cloth to prevent scratches.

Bottom Line

This Eyekepper model has a lot of features but is missing on its most important property: anti-blue light property. 30.38% is not enough to protect the eyes from harmful radiation. These glasses are labelled as computer glasses but has not met the expectations for those kinds of glasses.

Nevertheless, it can still be a good starting point for those people who wants to try if computer glasses is effective or not.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Variety of choices
  • Includes case and cloth
  • Anti Glare and Anti UV

Cons

  • Blue light protection can be improved
  • Cleaning the lenses may take some time

greetings, I have a question or two, first I have noticed on some of the readers I have that the design peals off after not too long. I see this model does appear to have a pattern beyond the black color, is that an adhesive or is the plastic black? Also I was please with the price point, seems very reasonable.

I think the major reason why the design peels off is because of the oil left on your glasses. As for this eyekepper glasses, as far as I know, there is no news about peeling of the design on the frames.
