FRAME

Joopin frames are made of alloy – a combination of two or more metals. From the arms to the surrounding of the lenses, the metal material is made to be thin. The frame employs a simple design and contains intricate details on the arms up to the brow bridge.

The frame goes by black, silver, or gold color

The arms extend up to 145 mm (5.71 in) that slightly curves toward the ends. The ends are also surrounded with a rubber-like material. The frame widens to 140 mm (5.51 in) from temple to temple. It has a nose bridge gapped at 23 mm (0.91 in).

This nose bridge is lined with adjustable nose pads made from silicone material – a carbon-based polymer.

LENSES

The lenses are made of composite polaroid material which is a synthetic plastic material that is capable of polarizing light. Microscopic crystals are embedded into the lenses in such alignment that it brings the scattered light to only one orientation.

Aside from which, the lenses are scientifically tested for blocking 100% of ultraviolet (UV) rays at 400 nm wavelength.

The lenses prevent the three categories of UV rays from reaching the eyes: UVA which causes macular degeneration and some forms of cataract at the retinal region, UVB which causes photokeratitis and some forms of cataract at the corneal and lenses region of the eye, and UVC which causes eye cancer.

These UV rays are most prominent during 10:00 am to 3:00 pm especially on places at high altitudes and those near the equator.

The lenses are protected by nine layers: 1) water- and oil-resistant layer, 2) scratch-resistant layer, 3) radio-resistant layer, 4) dual anti-reflection layer, 5) reflection reduce coating layer, 6) durable layer, 7) high-definition lens layer, 8) anti-reflection coating layer, and 9) another water- and oil- resistant layer.

The lenses may come by black, grey, silver, green blue, ice blue, blue, and pink.

MAGNIFICATION

Joopin does not indicate if their lenses are prescription- or Rx-ready. There is no indication that any of their lenses are magnified at any degree. Nonetheless, these are sunglasses which do not aim to correct one’s visual defects.

More likely, the lenses are not magnified.

ACCESSORIES

The glasses come in an envelope-styled hard case, soft carrying pouch, wiping cloth, test card, and a screwdriver.

The envelope-styled case is not that hard enough but may still protect the glasses from foreign materials like moisture, dust, grease, oil, and dirt. Mechanical breakage due to impact and pressure is also prevented.

There is also a pouch included for easy carriage. The test card is useful in assessing the polarization of the glasses while the screwdriver is a tool for adjusting the hinges of the glasses.

Performance

Since it is made of metal alloy, each separate material tend to optimize the strengths of these metals while compromising the weaknesses of each.

Because metals generally are malleable, strong, and tough, these materials make the frame durable. The metals are generally heavy but it is fortunate that Joopin takes the ductility of the metals to an advantage. Making the metal frame thin allows the whole package lightweight at 1.1 ounces.

The metals are not free from corrosion. Hence, Joopin wraps the ends of the arms for protection from moisture or acidic perspiration.

Meanwhile, the lenses are scientifically-tested to block off 100% UV rays. Honestly, 100% protection from UV is an incredible feat! Off course, Joopin sunglasses are bought not only to make glare and high intensity light be bearable for the eyes but to protect fron harmful radiation.

With this kind of protection, the user shall not worry in going outside at peak hours of daytime.

In addition, the nine layers of protection are well placed. The layers are offered to give the optimum results as expected for that layer.

For example, the outermost part of the lenses are coated with water- and oil-resistant layers. These layers prevent fogging and staining. In case there would be a stain or dust on the surface, the user shall wipe it off with cloth.

In case the user doesn’t carry a microfiber cloth, the scratch-resistant layer next to the water-and oil-resistant layer answers that problem. Afterwards, a radio-resistant layer which blocks 100% of harmful radiation follows.

Layers 4, 5, and 8 prevents reflection of the eyes and other objects which may serve as distraction for the user. The durable layer acts as the impact-resistant layer. Finally, the high-definition layer allows sharpness of the image even though the lenses employ dark tints.

Pricing

Aside from its durability and stylish design, what I like the most about these glasses is its affordability. Most sunglasses is somehow costly but this eyewear doesn’t hurt that much in your budget. The price ranges from $10 – $15.

Joopin also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee and a lifetime warranty on frame and lenses breakage. These glasses appear to be reasonable with the technology and services it offer.

Helpful Tips

There are plenty of things that you can do in order to keep your glasses for a longer period of time. I suggest that you follow these helpful tips in order to keep your glasses safe.

  • Always keep your glasses inside the case. This will ensure that breakage from sudden fall is minimized. Dust and oil are also prevented.
  • Don’t use any other material in cleaning the lenses. Only use the provided fiber cloth in order to prevent scratches.

Bottom Line

Joopin sunglasses are well built and meticulously made. Their frame design is unique and remarkable.

It allows a value of eccentricity and exotic quality to transcend through the user. It also givers the individual some sort of a hippie vibe.

With the technology used for the lenses, it is hard to bring Joopin down especially that it sells at a fairly low price among its competitors. This glasses is recommendable for people who wants to try their quirky designed frames.

  • Stylish Design
  • Polarized lenses
  • Affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Includes case and cleaning cloth

  1. Hi John,
I am always looking for eye protection. My eyes have become very sensitive to light, especially sun light. I have not heard about these sunglasses but I am excited to buy a pair. They also offer some really unique frames which I love and have already found a pair I want. The prices are also great. Do you know if these can be worn for night glare?
