Product Overview

Product: Pixel Eyewear Designer Computer Glasses

Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon.com

Unique Feature: Anti Glare; Full Rim; Clear Lens

My Rating: 9.5 out of 10

This model of Pixel eyewear uses a rectangular-rimmed acetate frame in oryc style. The frame is tortoise in color.

It has a thick nose bridge having a width of 18 mm (0.71 in). The nose is  lined with nose pads extending from the eyeglasses’ rim. The temples are connected to the arms via barrel hinges. The arms extend up to 140 mm (5.51 in).

The arms start narrow from the temple joint, slowly widening until it slightly curves downwards toward the tips. There is also a trademark printed on the inner side of the arms.

The lenses follow the shape and size dictated by the frame. Both lenses go by the width of 51 mm (2.01 in).

It is layered to provide utmost protection for the user’s eyes. The outermost layer is the scratch-resistant layer followed by the anti-glare (AR) layer. The next layer offers 100% ultraviolet (UV) protection.

The last layer is the advanced blue light filter double layer. Even though the lenses are layered several times, the lenses are clear with no stark yellow tint. The material used for the frame is polycarbonate (PC).

Pixel does not include magnification in their options. Their lenses are not Rx- or prescription-ready.

Due to this, people with current visual problems may be uncomfortable in using these glasses. Anyhow, Pixel’s main aim is not to correct such defects but just to protect the eyes from further damage brought by harmful radiation.

The glasses include a microfiber pouch which act as a cleaning cloth and a ready-to-go container. The microfiber material of the pouch cleans the surface of the lenses effectively, picking up particles of dirt and dust.

With the softness of the pouch, the probability of scratching the lenses’ surface is reduced to a minimum, especially the lenses are equipped with scratch-proof layer.

Since acetate is the material of the frame, complex design and vibrant colors are made possible. Ordinary plastic frames are not capable to have a tortoise design. However, acetate frames having such design is hard, time-consuming, laborous, and, therefore, more expensive to produce.

Nevertheless, the major advantages brought by plastic frame; i.e, lightweightness, flexibility, elasticity, etc. are at par, if not much greater, to acetate frames.

The glasses are shaped in a classical and universal design for glasses. Rectangular-rimmed glasses are the basic shape for glasses which could suit any face shape and sizes.

The color is also available for men or women whatever age they may be. This pair of glasses can be worn with any type of outfit for any occasion. Hence, these glasses are made for long-term and casual use.

The glasses do not settle much on the ergonomics, though. The light weight of the frame just brings comfortability to the user. The curvature of the arms grasps the ears slightly preventing slippage. The nose pads also aid in preventing slipping incidents.

The nicest thing about this eyewear is its lenses which employs sophisticated technology to deliver best results. The lenses are transparent and clear without the yellow tint as most anti-radiation glasses have.

Hence, the user’s eyes will not have a hard time in adjusting to a different state when images are viewed. Color is not distorted; the user will view things as though they do not have eyeglasses.

Also, the lenses are wide enough for small to medium-sized lenses to provide protection even at peripheries. The lenses also cover the eyes for large-sized heads.

The protective layers are arranged in such a way that it does not defeat the purpose brought by each layer. The anti-scratch layer is set to be the outermost layer to protect the succeeding layers. The AR layer is placed between the scratch-resistant and anti-radiation layer.

Thus, a metallic blue sheen resulting from the blockage of blue light is not visible on the surface of the glasses. This prevents the user, as well as other individuals, from being distracted by the reflection. The anti-UV layer offering 100% protection is a great feat for it protects the eyes from harmful radiation that could cause fatal diseases like eye cancer.

Pixel could block a heap of this harmful radiation without sacrificing the color accuracy of the user’s vision.

Pixel Eyewear Designer Computer Glasses Review

This pair of glasses from Pixel is priced at above average. I think that the price is too high for middle-class people. Such pricing was set due to the complexity of the frame’s manufacturing process, the technology used in having the lenses clear but not compromising protection, and the brand itself.

Helpful Tips

It is always important to take care of your eyewear most especially that it is a health investment. So here are some helpful tips that you can use to increase the life expectancy of your glasses.

  • Always keep the eyewear inside the pouch. It will minimize the dust and oil that may accumulate. If you have extra budget, you can purchase a hard protective case.
  • Don’t use any other material in cleaning the lenses. Only use soft fiber cloth in order to prevent scratches on the lenses.

Bottom Line

Pixel computer glasses is certainly simple in design. It does not involve much antics and may not be eye-catching. The glasses are not set for fashion but for casual use. It is something that could be used almost all the time, especially if the user spends most of the day looking at computers.

Yet, being 100% UV radiation free, these glasses can also be worn when visiting places where the user is exposed to direct sunlight. This model of Pixel eyewear is recommended but the user should set appropriate budget.

The glasses will benefit you more if you are always involved in computer-related work.

Hi Everyone! I created this website to share my thoughts about the solutions to various eye problems that are caused by too much staring at digital screens. I also tackle about preventive measures to minimize the harmful effects of UV rays.

  1. These glasses seem to be perfect for two ocassions. First occasion is for those who work at the cubicles. The reason is because these people have to deal with the computer monitor at least 8 hours a day and 5-7 days per week. That’s a lot of blue light exposure. The interesting part about these glasses is that the blue filter is the inner layer. Even if the user drops the glasses often and scratches the outside, the blue layer stays intact. These glasses are also perfect for driving assuming the person doesn’t have other vision issues. It is perfect for driving against sunny glares which is UV light in the face. What do you think? Do you think it also works for other occasions?

    1. Personally, I don’t use computer glasses when driving. It is because there is still light yellow tint on the lenses that makes the sunlight uncomfortable to the eyes. But what you can do is try it one time and it feels normal then you can also use it for driving.
