Product Overview

Product: Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 Dual Lens Sunglasses

Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon.com

Unique Feature: Polycarbonate Lenses; Nylon Frame

My Rating: 9.4 out of 10

The style of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 is just like most sports glasses would have. The glasses are only semi-rimmed that is wraparound.

The frame that covers the upper half of the lenses is thick. When worn, the eyewear makes the person look like he or she has a thick brow ridge. As most sports sunglasses do, the frame of this pair has adjustable temples, ear grips, and nose pads.

The whole frame is elegantly sculpted with the ear grips and brow ridge areas clearly laid out. The width of the whole assembly spans up to 10 cm (4 in) with its height of up to 8 cm (3 in). The nose bridge creates a gap of 1.3 to 1.5 cm (0.51 to 0.59 in). The arms have a length of 13.2 cm (5.20 in).

The surface of the arms touching the head has the brand name of Tifosi embossed on the ear grip. The outer surface has the logo of Tifosi placed near the temples.

Most of the frame of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 is made of Grilamid TR-90 nylon frame. The available colors for this pair are black and white or its reverse, gunmetal, glossy black, matte black, iron, race pink, and metallic red.

The lenses of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 are also made of polymer. But instead of being the same with its frame, the lenses are made of polycarbonate (PC). As I said earlier, only the upper half of the lenses are covered by the frame.

The lenses are almost irregularly-shaped like a triangle. There is a noticeable hole at the upper outer corners of the lenses. The left lens has the Tifosi brand name printed just below that hole.

The available colors for the lenses are high-speed red, mirror red, light night, all terrain green, smoke, clear, mirror blue, and brown fototec. The dimensions of the lenses are as follows: 6.7 cm (2.64 in) wide by 3.9 (1.54 in) high.

Each pair of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 glasses has a hard case that could be locked by a zipper. It is covered by intricately woven fabric.

The Tifosi brand tag could also be found sewn on the zipper line. It protects the glasses from contamination and oxidation as well as mechanical breakage due to impact and shock.

However, if the hard case lands on a wet surface, the liquid seeps through the woven fabric and is hard to be dried. Also, the cleaning of the hard case should be aided by a brush.

The frame of this Tifosi glasses being made of TR-90 nylon polymer makes it lightweight, flexible, and even durable.

TR-90 is one of the breakthrough materials in making frames. In fact, it is called “memory polymer” for it could be shaped in any way as to follow the contours of the face of the user. As such, TR-90 is usually used for glasses intended to provide the uttermost comfort.

In addition, the morphology of the lenses and glasses also follow the sports glasses requirement. Being wraparound and having adjustable temples, ear grips, and nose pads allows the frame to have a snug fit on the user’s head.

Motion would not be a problem in having the glasses stay in place. The V-shaped brow ridge, hole on the lenses, and the gap created by the nose pads make the air pass and flow smoothly around the face.

The air flow avoids extreme sweating making the assembly fall off the face especially if he or she has an oily face.

The lenses being made of PC is intelligently made for only half of these are protected by the frame. Impact could go from any direction.

Without the frames to protect the bottom part, the lenses should have a material that could protect itself. PCs are one of the most reviewed materials for impact resistance. It may affect optical clarity, though.

Yet, Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 glasses are clearly not used for reading. Rather, its features bring it closer to the sports category.

Lastly, the variety of the colors of the lenses and the frame allows the user to express himself or herself through the style he or she chooses.

The price of Tifosi sunglasses could go from $42 to $70. However, there are pairs of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 that could go on sale at seven to ten percent (7% to 10%) saving the consumer an amount of five to seven dollars ($5 to $7).

The great deal with Tifosi is its free returns and free shipping. The customer could first try the glasses. If they have a legitimate reason why they do not like the product, then they could take their money back. Hence, there would be no harm in trying.

Bottom Line

From the features and design of Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 glasses, it could be concluded that it is made for sports.

The style and characteristics of every part contributes in bringing the user an optimum gameplay and providing the uttermost comfort in motion and other factors. For sports glasses, Tifosi could be a great buy as it is not that expensive as other brands would. Plus it could still give the user what he or she wants for sports sunglasses.

  • Mid price range
  • Plenty of Choices
  • Durable

  • Cleaning the lenses may take some time

Hi Everyone! I created this website to share my thoughts about the solutions to various eye problems that are caused by too much staring at digital screens. I also tackle about preventive measures to minimize the harmful effects of UV rays.

  1. John,
Great review on Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 Dual Lens Sunglasses. Looks like they would fit really well and protect the eyes too. I like the fact that they have nose pads. I always have problems with glasses in that area. My nose actually hurts sometimes. I know these are shades, but can you put a prescription in these frames? Just curious. Loved the review. Thanks.
